As we step forward to a new year, looking back it was a tough year but beyond the challenges it has been an exciting year. We had the highest provision of winter clothing at the beginning of 2010. Also a child with special needs came to the States in a wheelchair and had 2 successful operations so that since she returned to Almaty in September she is walking! All of the expenses, from transportation to the operation to lodging were taken care of by a medical group in New Jersey. We’re currently working on other children who may also benefit.
Thank you so much for opening your doors to me during my visit. It was such a blessing. It was also tough as some friends went to be with the Lord and visiting the family members and sharing memories was not easy. Tears were shed because we miss them!!! I also saw many children who were adopted from Kazakhstan. I continue to keep them and their families in my prayers!!!
The high cost of living in Almaty required an increase in my monthly support and I do thank my partners for embracing the motto “Father’s love to the fatherless—loving people and changing lives” and for giving towards meeting my daily expenses besides taking part in meeting on-going ministry needs. I strongly believe God’s work done God’s way should not lack God’s provision. As you become God’s hand in showing His love, you are exemplifying the acts of Christ. In my part I will pray daily for God’s blessings to be on you, will communicate regularly the challenges and joys of serving Him, be a good steward serving Him, operate with integrity and excellence, cooperating with my leaders in Denver.
As you know your part—pray for the Lord’s work here and support financially with your monthly pledge and love gifts. “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.” Philippians 4:17. We are co-workers in the Kingdom’s work.
For this year’s winter clothing project, there is a need to clothe 360 orphans----children who have outgrown their clothing from last year. The little ones will wear their hand-me-down clothing.
So far over 50 orphans already have sponsorship from a church in Texas. Praise the Lord! As last year, $35 USD will cover the cost of warm clothing for each child. As usual make your check payable to YWAM Denver and send to:

If you wish to make your donation tax deductible, do not right any specifications on the check. You may attach a note to indicate that the donation is for the Kazakhstan Winter Clothing Project and where you heard about the project. I am planning to buying locally.
Another need that arose this year is to provide 3 pair of warm socks per child for 1100 orphans. The cost would be about $3 USD/child for a total of $3300 USD.
As the new year starts there are 3 orphans, ages 8, 13, & 18 who need eye operations to correct crossed eyes. The doctor from Moscow will be in town 16-24 January. Each operation costs $1400 USD. Please pray for the surgeries and for quick recoveries.
On Christmas Day I had a great opportunity to visit a handicapped children’s home. I took 4 orphans with me to help give out gifts and telling that it is the birthday of Jesus. To my surprise one child among them ran to his room and came back with a red book in his hand. It was Mays Pervaya-Biblia Kartinki, My First Bible in Pictures by Kenneth N. Taylor.
The boy said it was presented to him by a friend visiting in the summer 2009. We knew a few of the children there because they had been admitted due to their medical condition. After all of the attention that surrounded them, the little ones were sad to see us go. My heart was overjoyed that we could bring a ray of hope for a brief time but heavy that we could not meet every need. The only hope that’s everlasting is that hope that arrives when Jesus becomes the answer and His love invades every empty space!!! I am proud of the 4 orphans who accompanied me as I saw them playing with the children and giving full attention to these handicapped little ones. The worker there has been working for 13 years and showed interest in another possible visit in the near future. I appreciate your prayers for wisdom in how to use this open door for Christ’s glory.
