Dear Readers,
It's been a while since I wrote and with crazy life I would like to start writing again. A lot has happened in my life since the mission trip. Before I forget.....Dere was in the states but I was unable to see him due to his tight schedule and he returned back to Almaty. I was sad I wasn't able to see him but I hope I will soon! Keep him and his work in your prayers! I keep in touch with my sisters and brother's in Almaty. Slava, Dima, Rystam, Dasha, Tima, Nastya, Masha, Vova.....are doing well....Dasha finished her college with a travel agent diploma. I'm proud of her. She doesn't live with her alcholic mom anymore and is now with some friends. Slava and Dima live together and have a construction job. I miss being there SO much. I am planning on returning next year. :) I can't wait. This year I hope to start another project and raise money for orphanages. I'll try to post some photo's of kids that Dere sent me. :) Keep an eye out. I'll write more, but I wanted to start now...a little bit at a time.
Blessings,
Ashleigh

I'm Back...
Dear Readers,
Whew! Can you believe June is almost over! I completely.....can't. It's been so busy I've had almost no time to write, but I'm back I assure you. :) I have some fantastic news to offer, but before I do I shall tell you where I am have been all this time. Just last week I was gone a while on a mission trip to New Orleans, LA. There was still much work to be done from the mess Katrina 2005 brought. We mostly worked in a public school. The first day was super labor day, we moved boxes from one room down stairs, then to a uhall which was outside. The boxes were filled mostly with school supplies such as: books, science instruments, instrument cases, etc... Going down stairs wasn't easy but with the amazing guys we had with us, and awesome team work we got things in the uhall and transferred to another school, where we unloaded the uhall again and mached upstairs to arrange the boxes in the new class room! It was crazy, hard, awesome day! The rest of the week we painted halls at the school. Before they were a gray/bluish color that was worn out, dirty and drawn upon. Painting was fun! The paint wasn't too "fumey" ...yes..I know that's not a word. :) Though I do have to say my painting jeans were nicely decorated with white and green paint! Who can resist putting smiley faces and hand prints on their painting jeans. I couldn't! Our team was all together 15 people. It was a blessing to be able to attend this trip and to serve the school. We got to minister and tell a 11 yr old girl about Christ, she left with much curiosity and thirst for more. :) I am really thankful! At the end of the week our team leader Josh took us on a airboat ride to see some alligators. It was amazing to see those creatures in the wild. I also got to eat alligator the night. It was yummy!

Eye Surgerys
Thank you so much for your prayer and support for making possible the eye surgeries. Today was the day of the two operations. Erzhan & Yulia each reacted very differently. Yulia's experience was very exhausting for her and she slept well over two hours after the operation. This was unlike Erzhan who only slept for an hour or so.
I appreciate your prayers for their speedy recovery.
In Him
Dere

Love to the Fatherless.....
These pictures supposed to be at the bottom...but they had a mind of their own so they are at the top. I encourage all of you to read this story. I admire Dere for being such a fragrance of Christ to those orphans. He's such a blessing! Continue your prayers!
GREETINGS TO ALL,
Dere
GREETINGS TO ALL,
BEING A SCHOOL BREAK HERE, THE KIDS DO NOT HAVE SO MUCH TO DO AND SOME OF THE TROUBLE MAKING KIDS REALLY SHOW THEIR CHARACTER! WELL, IT WAS ON MONDAY ONE OF THE GROUP MOMS ASKED ME IF I WOULD TAKE OUT FOR HALF A DAY ONE OF THE TROUBLE MAKING KIDS, POSSIBLY IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE BIRTHDAY OF ANOTHER ORPHAN I WAS PLANNING TO TAKE OUT. OF THE CLOSE TO 300 ORPHANS THIS 13 YEAR OLD BOY IS KNOWN FOR HIS TROUBLE MAKING, BEING AGGRESSIVE, FIGHTING WITH OTHERS, EVEN WITH SOME OF THE TEACHERS. WELL, I TOOK THE CHALLENGE AS AN OPPORTUNITY AND THOUGH THE GROUP MOM TOLD ME HE COULD RUN AWAY AS HE DID A FEW TIMES BEFORE (HE COMES BACK AFTER FEW DAYS).
WELL, WAITING FOR TUESDAY TO COME I WAS TENSE AND INDEED ASKED THE LORD TO GIVE ME WISDOM. WELL THE IDEA OF GOING TO THE POOL (BILLIARDS) PLACE IN TOWN ADJACENT TO THE PIZZA HUT CAME TO ME. I HAD JUST RECEIVED ON FRIDAY A NOTE FROM ONE OF THE PARTNER FAMILIES SENDING A 40USD TO SPEND WITH THE KIDS AND THAT WAS A PERFECT TIMING!
SO I TOOK THAT BOY AND THE BIRTHDAY BOY AND TWO GIRLS FROM THE ORPHANAGE. WE TOOK THE PUBLIC BUS AND THE RIDE WAS AN EXPERIENCE BY ITSELF! NOT CONTAINING HIMSELF, HE WALKED FORWARD AND BACK IN THE BUS AS THE BUS MOVED AND I HAD TO RAISE MY VOICE TO GET HIS ATTENTION TO JOIN US AND SIT BY OUR SIDE. BUT HE SAID HE LIKED STANDING! WELL, WHEN WE GOT OFF AT OUR STOP, I GAVE HIM A RESPONSIBILITY WITH ONE OF THE OTHERS TO GO TO THE PIZZA HUT TO GET US A PIZZA TO TAKE WITH US TO THE POOL PLACE. HE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ORDERING AND PAYING FOR THE PIZZA WITH MONEY I GAVE HIM. HE PAID AND BROUGHT THE PIZZA AND THE CHANGE AND THE RECEIPT. THEN HE SAID A VERY INTERESTING THING, “NO ONE EVER TRUSTED ME TO GIVE ME MONEY TO PAY. THEY THOUGHT I WOULD KEEP IT TO MYSELF. “
WE PLAYED OVER TWO HOURS. I SHOWED THEM THE BASICS OF THE GAME AND WE ALL PLAYED VERY HAPPILY AND IT WAS SUCH A FUN TIME. WE ENJOYED OUR PIZZA AND ALSO SHARED A HOME MADE EGG AND FISH SANDWICH.
TO DREAM IS JUST PART OF A CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCE. AS WE PLAYED THE BOY STARTED TO TALK ABOUT HOW HE MIGHT ONE DAY PLAY POOL WELL AND HOW HE COULD EARN MONEY! THIS WAS HIS FIRST EVER EXPERIENCE PLAYING POOL. HE SHOWED SUCH A GRATEFUL ATTITUDE. WE HEARD OVER AND OVER THE THANK YOU WORD. AT ONE POINT HE SAID, “I WISH MY MOM COULD COME TO WATCH SUCH A NICE SHOT” (HE JUST HAD JUST MADE), ADDING, “SHE WOULD BE PROUD.” I UNDERSTAND HIS MOM IS SERVING A PRISON SENTENCE.
THE OTHER KIDS ALSO ENJOYED THE POOL PLAY. WE GRABBED AN ICE CREAM ON THE WAY BACK AND TOOK THE BUS RIDE BACK. THE KIDS RETURNED REFRESHED HAVING FUN AND LOTS OF MEMORIES.
APPRECIATE YOUR PRAYERS FOR ADEL'S EYE TREATMENT APPOINTMENT ON FRIDAY THE 30TH OF MARCH.
ATTACHED ARE SOME RANDOM PHOTOS FROM THE OUTING TO THE POOL PLACE.
